Art House

Glebe, Sydney

This federation style property faced a number of challenges typical of high density inner city living. However, every challenge is unique to each individual property. In this instance, the incredibly difficult nature of the site was compounded by the neighbouring building—a set of apartments—so privacy, as well as access to northern sunlight, created a particularly tricky set of hurdles. But by opening up the house, our solution provided both natural light and ventilation for the home, while also maintaining privacy for the family, which was a specific objective from the outset. With our client’s trust in the process, we explored every available opportunity throughout the site, solving all the property’s various functional challenges, and in doing so, delivered a bespoke and unique home, which has also increased the overall value of the property.

Deliverables:

  • Resolve overshadowing concerns;
  • Maximise usable space;
  • Maximise natural light;
  • Provide a contemporary design solution;
  • Design a bespoke solution to suit a lifestyle;
  • Site and construction management;
  • Navigate Council regulations and compliance.
