Aperture House

Bondi Junction, Sydney

This seemingly modest single-story terrace was partly demolished to make way for a two-story rear addition, split over three levels. Unsurprisingly, there were a number of challenges to overcome. However, our client’s deep appreciation for design and architecture ensured absolute confidence in our process. This trusted relationship became central to solving the property’s various hurdles, including maximizing natural light to the back of the house where our team developed an angled rear awning structure, which essentially operates as an aperture allowing natural light to be amplified into the lower ground floor living spaces. The upper level rooms also feature solutions for increasing natural light inside the small structure. And with our client’s appreciation for attention-to-detail, focusing on the finishes was just as important for them as solving some of the bigger structural challenges—something we welcomed, as it aligns neatly with our holistic approach.

Deliverables:

  • Maximise a tight block;
  • Maximise usable space;
  • Maximise natural light;
  • Provide a contemporary design solution;
  • Attention-to-detail on interiors and finishes;
  • Landscaping design;
  • Design a bespoke solution to suit a lifestyle;
  • Site and construction management;
  • Navigate Council regulations and compliance.
